Managing Listing Location and Map Pins

How location data works on JamesEdition, how to set it, and what to do when the map pin is wrong.JamesEdition

When a listing is published on JamesEdition, a map pin is placed based on the address data provided, helping buyers understand where a property is located. How you manage the location depends on how your listings are created. Follow the section that applies to you.

Manually added listings

If you create or edit listings directly in your Business Account, you control the address from within JamesEdition.

Setting the location

  1. Go to Listings in your Business Account and open the listing you want to edit.
  2. In the Location section, type the address and select the most accurate match from the dropdown suggestions.
  3. Choose your precision level:
    • City level: enter only a city name. No specific address is shown to buyers. Use this when you prefer not to disclose the exact property location.
    • Street level: enter a full street address. The pin shows the precise location. Use this when the exact location is a selling point.
  4. Save the listing and check the map preview to confirm the pin is placed correctly.

If the map pin is wrong

  1. Check the address. Open the Location section and verify the address, city, and country are correct and complete. Fix any typos and save.
  2. Re-select from the dropdown. Clear the current address, type it again, and carefully select the correct match from the suggestions. Save and check the map preview.
  3. Try a nearby landmark or postal code. For remote or newly built properties, the exact address may not be recognised. Enter a well-known landmark, intersection, or postal code instead, and clarify the location in your listing description.
  4. Contact support. If the pin is still incorrect, email support@jamesedition.com.

Feed-imported listings

If your listings come from a CRM feed, the location is determined by the address data in your feed; not by anything entered in JamesEdition. If your feed includes latitude/longitude coordinates, these take priority over the address: the pin is placed at the coordinates, and the address is used only as a fallback when no coordinates are provided. Always correct location data at the source.

⚠️ Important: If you manually edit a feed-imported listing's location in JamesEdition, that field will no longer update from your feed. Restore the manual changes from your Seller's dashboard.

If the map pin is wrong

  1. Check the coordinates in your feed. If your feed includes latitude/longitude coordinates, the pin is placed at those coordinates and the address is ignored for pin placement. Incorrect or swapped coordinates are the most common cause of a misplaced pin. Correct them in your CRM, or remove them so the address is used instead.
  2. Check the address in your CRM. Verify the address, city, postal code, and country are all correct and complete. Even a missing postal code can cause the pin to default to the city centre.
  3. Check the formatting. Make sure your CRM sends the address as separate structured fields (street, city, postal code, country). A single combined line may not geocode accurately.
  4. Wait for the next feed sync. JamesEdition picks up the corrected address automatically during the next sync; usually within 24 hours.
  5. Check for manual edits. If you previously edited the location of this listing directly in JamesEdition, the field no longer updates from your feed. Contact support to reset it.
  6. Contact support. If the pin is still wrong after correcting your CRM data and waiting for a sync, email support@jamesedition.com with your listing ID and the correct address. Our team can manually adjust the geocoding.
